The landmark of Mírové Square. The building was constructed in 1954-1955 by the design of academic architect Jaroslav Krauz and Ing. Arch. Josef Sedláček. The House of Culture is an example of the Classicising tendencies in the 1950s architecture and it was one of the most modern ones in the country at the time of its construction. The House of Culture has been reconstructed recently and it is fully used for cultural and social purposes. It offers a newly digitalized cinema, a social hall, theatre hall, number of club rooms, and an information centre to the visitors. An interesting cultural programme is prepared every month in the form of theatre, concerts, film showings, exhibitions or lectures.
