The architectural and monument jewel of the town of Ostrov – the Gothic-Renaissance building of the Old Town Hall, is located in the centre of the Old Square. The walls of the town hall have witnessed development, booms and falls of the town. It is an originally Gothic building which was reconstructed in the Renaissance style after a fi re in 1567, and further modifi ed in the Classicist style after 1795. It was fi nally rebuilt in Neo-Gothic style after the third fi re in 1866. The last reconstruction of the town hall so far took place in 1994-1997. The town hall serves the citizens as a muchused ceremonial hall. There is also an info-centre in the Old Town Hall, off ering also an interesting exhibition of clockworks besides its primary services.
